Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) refers to the entire operational ecosystem of a drone: not only the aircraft itself, but also the remote pilot and the control station, integrated into a single advanced technological system.
In Italy, UAS pilot training follows European EASA regulations, under the supervision of ENAC. To operate in the OPEN category with drones weighing 250 g or more, an A1-A3 certificate is required, while more advanced operations or the use of heavier drones may require an A2 certificate or specific training pathways for dedicated operational scenarios.
